We’ve closed our Pen Pal program for 2020. Thank you to all those the sent in their letters bringing so many smiles, laughs and even a few happy tears.

Social isolation hasn’t ended. You can still connect with an Oldie that’s in your network such as a neighbour or relative.

Pen Pals 2020 brought together Young Mates and our Oldies through the good ol’ written letter. Some told stories about a prior holiday, work challenge or how you’ve been holding up during COVID-19. If you’ve got a story to write, why not find an Oldie to share it with.

Ned’s letter to Beverley - a resident at E.M. Tooth Residential Aged Care Home

Hi Beverley,

My name is Ned and I am in grade 5. The last few weeks have been different for me and my family. I have been doing my school days at home with my older brother and mum and dad.

I like to build Lego and am in the process of building a Star Wars set. Here’s a photo of it.

I feel that it is lucky that the weather has been nice during this time and so we can enjoy being outside in the yard and seeing nature around us. I hope you have been enjoying seeing the nature around you as well Beverley.
