Oldies Queensland
Let’s combat loneliness. Together.
Cheer up an Oldie
As most of us in Queensland start to emerge from the COVID-19 lockdown, the Oldies in our community continue to self-isolate. Which can be, well, isolating. And lonely. We’re all in this together so let’s think about an Oldie and check how they’re doing. Social connection is so important for everyone right now. Kindness can’t be forgotten.
We need people like you to connect with an Oldie to brighten their day. Coronavirus will for the moment keep our Oldies distanced, but you can cheer them up by connecting with an Oldie in your community.
Meet our Oldies
Just because someone is getting older, doesn’t mean their passions, interests, hobbies and experiences take a back seat. Our Oldies have interests ranging from fishing and dancing to board games, fashion design and gardening. They have travelled the world and have many stories to tell. Some of them even speak other languages – a perfect opportunity for you to practice.
Feel the love with these video messages.
Thanks to everyone who has sent theirs in.
Pen Pals 2020
Now closed - Thank you to all the Young Mates for the support and letters sent in for our Oldies during this time of isolation.
Senior Moments
Coronavirus sucks! It also means our Oldies are more isolated than ever.
We’ve teamed up with VICE for an all-new social series that’s smashing social isolation and loneliness by encouraging togetherness between young people and the Oldies in our community.
